Legacy 1912 Titanic Fragrance Launch
The 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic is upon us and not only is a new 3D version of the Titanic movie, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, being released but a fragrance by QVC will be commemorated!
The shopping channel has created Legacy 1912 Titanic, a fragrance inspired not by the disaster but by a British perfumer and surviver. A sample of perfume once carried by Adolphe Saalfeld, was savlaged and 'recreated'. According to QVC, Saafeld was enroute to America to make fortune off of a new fragrance he'd hope to debut, until disaster struck.
"Inspired by actual essences recovered from the wreck of the Titanic, Legacy 1912 eau de parfum surrounds you with the fragrance of delicate lemon and nerolis, alongside blushing rose and warm, sheer amber. A testament to the enduring nature of history, this scent also honors the legacy of British perfume maker Aldophe Saalfeld, who had to leave his precious case of perfume vials behind when he fled the ship."
"Legacy 1912 is based upon the perfume oils developed by German-born chemist Adolphe Saalfeld. He was traveling on the Titanic to New York in hopes of developing a new line of scents. He survived the sinking, but his samples were lost. Found 2-1/2 miles beneath the ocean's surface, many samples amazingly still contained their oils."
The fragrance Legacy 1912 Titanic will be availabe on QVC at $69.
